No evidence for thick deposits of ice at the lunar south pole

Article Abstract:

A new 20-m resolution, 13-cm-wavelength radar images are presented that show no evidence for concentrated deposits of water ice in Shackleton crater or elsewhere at the Moon's south pole. No correlation is found between the polarization properties and the degree of solar illumination. It is believed that if the hydrogen enhancement observed by the Lunar Prospector orbiter' indicates the presence of water ice, then the data are consistent with the ice being present only as disseminated grains in the lunar regolith.

Radar imaging of the lunar poles

Article Abstract:

A radio telescope was used at Arecibo Observatory, Puerto Rico, to map features of the lunar poles by collecting long-wavelength radar images that can penetrate several metres of lunar dust. Long-wavelength measurements reveal a paucity of ice in the moon's polar craters.

Sagan breached security by revealing US work on a lunar bomb project

Article Abstract:

A claim that Carl Sagan breached US national security in revealing details of a possible nuclear test on the moon is substantiated by a letter from his former boss. Reiffel claims that in 1959 Sagan's fellowship application revealed details of classified projects.
