Noninvasive endocrine data for behavioural studies: the importance of validation

Article Abstract:

There has been a substantial growth recently in the use of noninvasive methods to quantify either current or past levels of hormone production and the data can be used to determine the relations between a range of hormone levels and animal behaviour across taxa. There are several reasons mentioned why noninvasive methods of sampling are highly desirable.

Behavioural defences against sexually transmitted diseases in primates

Article Abstract:

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are known to exist in wild and domesticated animals. Investigation of whether behaviors hypothesized to reduce STD transmission are correlated with measures of STD risk involving mating promiscuity and life-history traits is done.
