North Carolina wolf country

Article Abstract:

North Carolina's coastal plain was considered inhospitable to humans, but kayak trails, observation towers, and red wolf programs have brought visitors to see the wild, the blackwater rivers, and the public lands. The Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge and the Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge have over 76 species of reptiles and amphibians. Red wolves are considered the star attractions and have been roaming there since 1986 when they were first released.
