Indian regulations fail to monitor growing stem-cell use in clinics

Article Abstract:

The Indian government departments have failed to regulate the use of stem-cells in treating a wide range of diseases in both private and public clinics. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) are negotiating a single set of guidelines on stem-cell research that will ensure that there are sufficient checks and controls on clinical practice.
