Persistent controversy in statistical approaches in wildlife sciences: a perspective of students

Article Abstract:

Some students suggest a solution to the persistent controversy over the use of null hypothesis statistical testing (NHST) in wildlife sciences. They propose an academic course to introduce students to various statistical approaches and enable critical thinking on the preferred approach.

Statistical versus biological hypothesis testing: response to Steidl

Article Abstract:

A response to Dr. Steidl's argument about situation-specific use of each information theoretic approach in wildlife sciences is presented. It is suggested that the distinction between statistical and biological hypotheses of model testing needs to be made clear.
