Pesticide results help China edge transgenic rice towards market

Article Abstract:

The reports on the data that advocates the rice health benefits are presented. It is stated that there was a slight increase in productivity of about 6% and that the observers are concerned by the lack of long term health and environmental studies, and by the evidence that transgenic rice is being sold illegally in China.

Biodiversity schemes take root in China

Efforts made to protect the southwestern China's endangered species form the threat of agricultural and industrial development is presented. Researchers form the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), Kumming emphasized on conserving this region as it harbors exceptional biodiversity.

China launches primate centre to broaden medical use of monkeys

Article Abstract:

Biologists in China plan to use the regions where they can get easily accessed to primates to set up a global resource for disease research. The centre based at Sun Yat-sen University, China will develop large colonies of transgenic primates for use as models of human disease.
