Prime-time progress

Article Abstract:

DNA is replicated by unzipping the double helix to expose the base that acts as a template for copying the genetic material, with both strands of DNA serving as a template, and thus one double helix becomes two. One level of complexity in the replication reaction comes from the fact that DNA polymerase, the enzyme that synthesizes the new DNA cannot be a strand itself rather it extends a short RNA primer that is already bounded to the template.

Stirring the primordial soup: RNA world: Does changing the direction of replication make RNA life viable?

Article Abstract:

Researchers believe that RNA would be the molecular candidate that mediates the activity of self-reproducing macromolecules that were present before life came into being on the earth. The researchers believe this as RNA can combine the necessary properties of encoding information and catalyze chemical reactions.

The loader of the rings

Article Abstract:

The ring-shaped sliding clamp and the clamp loader are among the numerous molecular machines involved in the process of DNA replication. The ring-shaped nature of the sliding camp presents a simple topological problem that how DNA is introduced into the hole in the clampEs center.
