Push-button entanglement

Article Abstract:

Research undertaken at the US National Institute of Standards and Technology has made it possible to describe the quantum entanglement of four atoms. The technique used in this research for the quantum preparation of matter is scalable to considerably larger numbers of entangled particles. It may therefore become a valuable tool for quantum information processing and may assist in improving the precision of large-scale quantum measurements. Many-particle entanglement will become a vital tool for realistic error correction in quantum computers.

Experimental test of quantum nonlocality in three-photon Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger entanglement

Article Abstract:

A newly developed method was used to observe three-photon entanglement, or 'Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states. Experimental results involved measurements of polarization correlations between three photons, and resulted in quantum physical predictions that are mutually contradictory with expectations. The fourth experiment agreed with the quantum prediction, in conflict with local realism.
