Quantum security is spookily certain

Article Abstract:

Quantum cryptography is the first practical application of the foundations of quantum mechanics. In the development of the science of quantum information, new capabilities have been predicted that make use of quantum mechanical superpositions of information. Using quantum key distribution, shared cryptographic key material whose security is assured by the laws of quantum mechanics can be created. However, unanticipated advances in fields like quantum computation could render quantum cryptography not just insecure but also retroactively vulnerable.
