Quantum teleportation across the Danube: a real-world experiment marks a step towards worldwide quantum communication

Article Abstract:

The high-fidelity teleportation of photons over a distance of 600 meters across the River Danube in Vienna, with the optimal efficiency that can be achieved using linear optics is described. The results derived will help in the implementation of the quantum repeater, which will assist in the sharing of the pure entanglement between parties in a public environment and on a worldwide scale.

Happy centenary, photon

Article Abstract:

Albert Einstein's 1905 proposal of the photon concept has had tremendous impact but Einstein should be highly credited for his various criticisms of quantum physics that were part of the early debate with his contemporaries. Experiments with photons have had a pioneering role and gave rise to the new fields of quantum information processing.

De Broglie wavelength of a non-local four-photon state

Article Abstract:

A four-photon interferometer based on linear optics is demonstrated. The interference fringes with a periodicity of one-quarter of the single photon wavelength, confirming the presence of a four particle mode-entangled state is observed.
