Regulatory T-cell functions are subverted and converted owing to attenuated Foxp3 expression

Article Abstract:

A mouse model is used, where endogenous Foxp3 gene expression is attenuated in regulatory T cells ([T.sub.R]), to show that decreased Foxp3 expression enables the development of an aggressive autoimmune syndrome, but does not affect thymic development and homeostatic expansion. The results have shown that decreased Foxp3 expression causes immune disease by subverting the suppressive function of [T.sub.R] cells and converting [T.sub.R] cells into effector cells.

A sequence-based variation map of 8.27 million SNPs in inbred mouse strains

Article Abstract:

The genomes of four wild-derived and eleven classical strains are resequenced and 8.27 million high-quality single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) densely distributed across the genome are identified. The regional redundancy of the SNP data has facilitated imputation of the majority of the genotypes in less-densely typed classical inbred strains.
