The rivalry between the Human Genome Project and its commercial competitor Celera Geonomics appears to have been forgotten, with both parties set to announce that they have separately sequenced the human genome.

Clinical trials end at gene-therapy institute...

The University of Pennsylvania's Institute for Human Gene Therapy is to stop clinical trials. This follows the death of 18-year-old Jesse Gelsinger in a trial at the institute in autumn 1999.
