Researchers seize moment to make tobacco data public

The Guildford Archiving Project undertaken by public-health researchers would publish the data of the multinational firm British American Tobacco (BAT) on an independent website for easy accessibility. The researchers accuse BAT of obstructing public attempts to access papers as its depository in Guilford, UK, and allege that some files showing details of the company's activities are removed or altered.

Fears grow as blood stocks pass on prions undetected

Article Abstract:

New infections of variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD) could continue unchecked as blood donors of certain genetic types may incubate vCJD and pass it on while seemingly healthy. Many more patients could contract the disease unless a sensitive screening of blood samples is done.
