Restoring shine on the Big Apple

Article Abstract:

The Commission on Biomedical Research and Development was formed in New York, NY, to find ways of strengthening the city's status as a research center. A coalition of medical school deans, city and state officials and executives from local real estate, finance and pharmaceutical industries created the Commission in the fall of 1991. The commission will look for ways to increase the city's appeal to new researchers as a place to work.

Nutritionists question study of organic food

Article Abstract:

UK organic farming organizations and food experts have voiced concern over a decision by the Food Standards Agency to examine the nutritional differences between organic and normal foods as many believe the study will show little health benefits from eating organic food.

Sustainability of three apple production systems

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the rapid growth in organic farming methods in spite of their high costs and lower yields. The sustainability of apple production systems in Washington State between 1994 and 1999 is discussed.
