Robotic whiskers used to sense features

Article Abstract:

The bending moment at the whisker base is used to generate three-dimensional spatial representations of the environment to construct robotic whisker arrays that extract precise information about object shape and fluid flow. It is demonstrated that the value of hardware models in understanding the sensing mechanisms and movement control strategies are interlocked and contribute to the development of versatile tactile-sensing system for robotic applications.

The inside story

Article Abstract:

The microbial composition of the intestinal ecosystem of infants is examined by sampling their faeces by using a comprehensive DNA microarray, which differentiated and quantified the distinct taxonomic groups present in the samples. This might help in predicting whether specific microbes increase the likelihood of a person developing a particular disease or whether the lack of a protective species leads to immune dysregulation.

Pathogen drop-kick

Article Abstract:

The exploitation of the host cells by the bacterium, Legionella pneumophila to form an L. pneumophila-containing vacuole (LCV) is discussed. They are mostly found to exploit the Rab proteins, thus causing pneumonia and Pontiac fever in individuals.
