Selling out on nature

Article Abstract:

The market-based mechanisms for conservation of nature are not the solution for the current conservation ills and hence it is required to redirect the effort that is being devoted to the commodification of nature back towards instilling a love for nature in more people. The track record of achievements by conservationists motivated by a moral imperative to protect nature for nature's sake is impressive and the imperiled Catskill watershed is the only successful large-scale ecosystem-service based conservation project yet achieved.

Governance and the loss of biodiversity

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that national governance influence total forest cover, but not the natural forest cover. Data show strong association between governance score and changes in African animal species in the forest. Research points out that lower the governance score richer the biodiversity, a condition conducive for conservation.

Field sports and conservation in the United Kingdom

Article Abstract:

Research points out that landowners participating in field sports also maintain woodland and plant new plants and hedgegoves than those who do not participate, suggesting that voluntary habitat management promotes biodiversity conservation in Britain.
