Suppression of Polycomb group proteins by JNK signalling induces transdetermination in Drosophila imaginal discs

Article Abstract:

Studies are conducted on transdetermination, which is a process by which cellular identities switch fate during the regeneration of Drosophila imaginal discs and it is reported that the frequency of transdetermination is enhanced in polycomb group (PcG) mutant flies. Downregulation of PcG function is observed and is found to be directly controlled by the Jun amino-terminal kinase (JNK) signalling pathway, which is activated in cells undergoing regeneration.

The yeast Rat1 exonuclease promotes transcription termination by RNA polymerase II

Article Abstract:

The study aims to demonstrate that Ett103 and the Rat1/Rail 5'->3' exonuclease are localized at 3' ends of protein coding genes. Chromatin immuniprecipitation (ChIP) analysis of RNA polymerase II (RNApII) is performed in rail delta and rat-1 strains to determine whether Rat1/Rail instead has a function in transcription termination.

A reason for reading nonsense

Article Abstract:

The importance of intergenic transcription in regulating gene activity in the relatively dense packed genome of yeast is examined. RNA polymerases are essential for controlling the occupancy of the regulatory sites by transcription factors.
