Tests of quantum gravity from observations of gamma-ray bursts

Article Abstract:

Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are sensitive to an energy dispersion predicted by some approaches to quantum gravity, according to research focusing on possible in vacuo dispersion of electromagnetic radiation from GRBs. GRBs make it possible in theory to gain many orders of magnitude in the sensitivity factor n. Furthermore, this high sensitivity should make it possible to probe values of the effective scale characterizing the onset of quantum-gravity effects reaching all the way up to the Planck scale.

Cytosolic chaperonin confirmed

Article Abstract:

T-complex polypeptide-1 (TCP-1) protein present in eukaryotic cells has been shown to act as a molecular chaperone in helping to bring about protein folding in the cytosolic compartment. Three research groups demonstrated that mouse TCP-1 facilitates the folding of cytosolic proteins, although TCP-1's stacked ring structure sets it apart from the other chaperonins. The protein stimulates folding by binding to a protease-sensitive polypeptide.
