The promise of emptiness

Article Abstract:

A microporous crystalline silicate, called ITQ-33, with exceptionally large pores and great potential as an industrial catalyst is described. Zeolites are crystalline oxide materials with a tetrahedral framework structure and it has desirably large pores, as well as the virtue of thermal stability, that are useful in petroleum and chemical industries.

Complex zeolite structure solved by combining powder diffraction and electron microscopy

Article Abstract:

Complex zeolite structure analysis was carried out by powder diffraction and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy data methods. The combination of these methods was really powerful as was seen from the complexity of the TNU-8 structure with 72 degrees of freedom in the initial structure solution and 76 atoms in the final structure.

A combustion-free methodlogy for synthesizing zeolites and zeolite-like materials

Article Abstract:

Recovery of zeolites by reassembly requires use of high cost organic molecules component and high temperature to remove of their fragments destroy the structure of zeolites. A methodology that avoids these difficulties by creating organic structure-directing agents (SDAs) that can be disassembled within the zeolites pore space is reported.
