The south-north connection

Article Abstract:

The Vostok core from Antarctica has provided a remarkable evidence of the link between temperature and atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations over the past 420,000 years in the northern and southern Polar Regions that operates through changes in ocean circulation. The European Project for Ice Coring in Antarctica (EPICA) team has placed the EDML record with high precision, which allows the comparison of the Greenland and Antarctic records over the time intervals as short as a few centuries.

Message from the fish teeth

Article Abstract:

An innovative geochemical approach was made to trace past ocean circulation based on the analysis of neodymium isotopes in the teeth and bones of fossil fish. Findings reveal that ocean circulation is altered during times of global warmth, however a combination of both evaluation of geological records and computer-based modeling approach is required for understanding the climate systems.

Power of pull

Article Abstract:

Large-scale ocean circulation plays a vital role in global climate regulation and any big changes in this complex system might present a great challenge to science and society. The importance of pull in the ocean circulation and its impact on global warming are discussed.
