The structure and evolution of centrometric transition regions within the human genome

Article Abstract:

A detailed analysis of the structure and assembly of all human pericentromeric regions is presented, which will assist in understanding the structure and evolution of the centrometric transition regions within the human genome. Results indicate that the distribution of the duplicated segments among the pericentromeric regions is nonrandom, which suggests that some regions may have served as preferential acceptors of euchromatic deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA).

Genomes for medicine

Article Abstract:

High-quality annotation is required of all the functionally important sequences and the variations within them that contribute to health and disease. The possibility of unlimited medical sequencing is the most striking future clinical application arising from the reference human genome sequence.

A high-resolution map of active promoters in the human genome

Article Abstract:

A genome-wide map of active promoters in human fibroblast cells is described. The results provide a global view of the functional relationships among transcriptional machinery, chromatin structure and gene expression in human cells.
