The developments in technology and timing techniques will assist in the miniaturization of the atomic clock, and there is also a possibility of an atomic wrist-watch. Atoms are illuminated by microwaves in the gigahertz frequency range, in a traditional atomic clock.

Cold meeting at a junction

Article Abstract:

The observation of the Josephson effect in a cold atomic gas is reported. The Josephson effect in a gas of ultracold atoms has shown the underlying unity of solid and gaseous systems.
