Thrombin receptor antagonist as a novel approach for the treatment of atherothrombosis

Article Abstract:

The article discusses clinical development and efficiency of the thrombin receptor antagonists for being used in the treatment of atherothrombosis. The receptor antagonists inhibit the platelet aggregation and hence lead to the reduction of the plasma low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in the patients.

Ectopic Beta-chain of ATP synthase is an apolipoprotein A-I receptor in hepatic HDL endocytosis

Article Abstract:

Researchers in France and the UK have demonstrated that a high-affinity high-density lipoprotein receptor for apolipoprotein A-I on the surface of hepatocytes is identical to the beta chain of ATP synthase. The researchers have confirmed ATP hydrolase activity at the surface of hepatocytes.

The bacterial conjugation protein TrwB resembles ring helicases and F1-ATPase

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the molecular mechanism which allows for the transfer of DNA between cells and across membranes in prokaryotes. The influence of the integral DNA-binding protein TrwB in Escherichia coli is discussed.
