Parasitoid behavior and Bt plants

Article Abstract:

A model system involving Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) oilsee rape expressing the Cry1Ac toxin. It was found that parasitoid larvae forced to develop in Bt-treated susceptible moth larvae, died with their hosts, but behavioral factors should restrict the scale of the effect under field conditions. The sue of Bt-resistant pests to examine direct effects of Bt toxins on parasitoid biology is a new method of assessing ecotoxicological risk.

Insecticidal toxin in root exudates from Bt corn

Article Abstract:

Bt corn is genetically modified corn that expresses insecticidal toxins from the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis to kill lepidopteran pests. It is shown that Bt toxin is released into the rhizosphere soil in root exudates from Bt corn. It is unknown how soil communities may be affected by Bt toxin and further investigations are required.
