Ukraine scientists grow impatient for change

Article Abstract:

Ukraine scientists are increasingly frustrated by the slow pace of reform of the country's Soviet-style research system, which they believe is being hampered by Ukraine's aged and anti-European scientific establishment. The focal point of criticism is the National Academy of Science of Ukraine (NASU) whose leaders fear competition and loss of influence and are blocking attempts to facilitate Ukraine's participation in research programmes funded by the European Union, by holding back information.

Hungary's science academy slammed as 'obsolete'

Article Abstract:

Hungary's national science academy is criticized for discriminating against scientists living and working abroad and the academy is frustrating the Hungarian government, which is trying to reform the country's research system and attract more high-profile scientists. Changes in the obsolete and old fashioned research system of the academy are required for reforming country's research system and attract more high-profile scientists.

Climate study highlights inadequacy of emissions cuts

Article Abstract:

A report published by the German Advisory Council on Global Change contends that the estimates presented in the Koyto Protocol to cut greenhouse-gas emissions is not enough to prevent climate change. Report states that climate change can be tolerated only upto 2 degree Celsius otherwise beyond this intolerable threat will be posed on living beings.
