Unravelling the Indian rope-trick

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the Indian rope-trick reveals that the testimonies are unreliable due to exaggeration over time. Magicians are unable to perform the trick that people claim to have watched. The length of time elapsed between performance watching and reporting is positively correlated with the elaborate impressiveness of the account. Findings indicate that people add their own versions of magical tricks and mythology to an unimpressive and mundane magical trick.

The megalab truth test

Article Abstract:

The newly designed megalab truth test helps examine if individuals use verbal, visual or vocal cues to identify deceit. The test, conducted on people exposed to two versions of a British political commentators' interview, shows that observers based their judgments on visual cues. The experiment suggests that verbal or vocal cues are more reliable than visual cues to help detect liars.

Unravelling gene interactions

Article Abstract:

The deleterious mutations research of scientists Elena and Lenski has furthered our understanding of sexual evolution. Genetic sequences of the bacteria Escherichia coli were transposed at various points in the life cycle to establish information on epistasis. Further experiments involving a variety of organisms will be significant in evolutionary research.
