Warming climate may threaten a third of all species: small window of time for Habitat Protection

Article Abstract:

With the atmosphere forecast to grow warmer than it has in millions of years, the species of around 1,103 species from six regions around the world are at the brink of extinction by 2050. Using the best moderate estimates of climatic warming over the next half-century, the scientists declared that 15 to 37% of the regions' species would-be committed to extinction.

Scourge of the Eastern forest

Article Abstract:

The destruction caused by the Anoplohora glabritpennis (ALB), the Asian longhorned beetle on the trees and plantations is outlined. In its native China, where ALB attacks plantations of introduced poplar trees, they call it forest fire without smoke, what is worse that it is now joined by two other killers-the emerald ash borer and sudden oak death syndrome.
