William J. Loeffel, 1894-1962: A brief biography

Article Abstract:

William J. Loeffel was one of the most recognized American livestock authorities. He was born in St. Louis, MO on Aug. 1834. He earned his B.S. degree at the University of Missouri after which he received his M.S. degree in Zoology at the University of Nebraska in 1929. He served as the president of the American Society of Animal Production in 1936. He was interested in history and humor which were manifested in his publication entitled 'Animal Husbandry through the Years at the University of Nebraska'. The Loeffel Meat Laboratory was dedicated to him in 1967.

Howard J. Gramlich, 1889-1985: a brief biography

Article Abstract:

The late Howard J. Gramlich had a highly fulfilling career in the field of animal husbandry. He was a graduate of the Nebraska School of Agriculture in 1908. He later got his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture in 1911 at the University of Nebraska, where he started his career in agricultural extension. Gramlich then worked as assistant professor of animal husbandry and associate at the University of Nebraska. Later, he was assigned head of the animal husbandry department. Gramlich passed away on Nov. 30, 1985.
