Winter habitat selection by Sitka black-tailed deer

Article Abstract:

Habitat selection of Sitka black-tailed deer in the central portion of the region in Tongass National Forest of southeastern Alaska, USA during a winter with snowfall 43% above average using telemetry relocations from 30 individuals that survived the winter is evaluated. The findings state that deer exhibited marked changes in habitat use during deep snow conditions compared to a low snow winter.

A spatial model of potential jaguar habitat in Arizona

Article Abstract:

Characterization of the potential jaguar habitat in Arizona is described from historic sighting records and creating a statewide habitat suitability map. It is suggested that conservation efforts must focus on protecting the most suitable jaguar habitat in southeastern Arizona, travel corridors within and outside Arizona, and jaguar habitat in the Sierra Madres of Sonora, Mexico.
