X-ray flare sparks quake inside Sun

Article Abstract:

Scientific research shows that solar flares cause seismic waves on the sun. Seismic data from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory indicates that x-rays, high-speed plasma flows and particle beams cause seismic waves like those predicted in theoretical models. Graphs showing the x-ray flux from a Burst and Transient Source Experiment solar flare are illustrated.

A certain flare

Article Abstract:

An observational overview of the event on December 27, 2004 of giant flashes from soft gamma-ray repeaters is presented. The source of the outburst is known as SGR 1806-20, a 'soft gamma-ray repeater' (SGR) lying in Galaxy at an estimated distance of 15 kiloparsecs from the Solar System.

Detection of a radio counterpart to the 27 December 2004 giant flare from SGR 1806-20

Article Abstract:

The detection of a fading radio counterpart to the December 27, 2004 giant flare from SGR 1806-20 is discussed. A monitoring program from 0.2 to 250 GHz was used and a high-resolution 21-cm radio spectrum was obtained that traces the intervening interstellar neutral hydrogen clouds.
