American academic and public folklore: late-twentieth-century musings
Article Abstract:
The training differences between public and academic US folklorists are discussed, focusing on academic folklorists' abilities to cross over into public folklore. Topics include history of US oral tradition, financing of folklore higher education, and creation of federal cultural programs that address US political and social change.

The role of expert in public folklore: response to Robert Baron

The differences between German and US folklore study techniques are analyzed, focusing on German folklorists' impact in the public sphere.
