Archaeology in Jordan
Article Abstract:
New archaeological activities in Jordan are reported. Among these are the draft plan presented by UNESCO for the preservation of the Petra National Park. The plan calls for finding a balance between tourism and preservation as more tourists visit the park. Another project undertaken was the fieldwork verification of aerial photographs of archaeological sites taken in 1953. As much as 4,000 photographs have been examined in sites that extend up to the Dead Sea.
