The devil in the details
Article Abstract:
The examination of the 1591 engravings of Timucua Indians found out that it mistakenly showed them drinking Black Drink, a tea brewed from the leaves of the Yaupon holly, out of a chambered nautilus shell rather than from a cup fashioned from a whelk shell. The whelk shells are found to come from the coast of Florida, where the Timucua Indians inhabited, whereas the nautilus shells come form the Pacific Ocean.

Investigating Olduvai
Article Abstract:
'Investigating Olduvai' and 'Excavating Occaneechi Town' are two CD-ROM programs that help users appreciate the complexities of archaeological research. The first offers an introductory movie, then the history of the site, followed by workbook assignments, taking the classroom to the field. The second title summarizes the results of two archaeological expeditions in 1983 and 1995 for a Native American village in the Carolinas. Both CD-ROMs are worthwhile tools for archaeological students.
