Digitizing the ancient Near East
Article Abstract:
CD-ROM electronic books and World Wide Web sites reflect growing interest in the ancient Near East. 'BibleWorks for Windows' is an excellent biblical database. 'The Logos Bible Atlas' and 'PC Bible Atlas for Windows' generate tailored Bible maps. 'The Dead Sea Scrolls Revealed' is useful for families and scholars. 'Pathways Through Jerusalem' takes a effective comic approach. World Wide Web sites are offered by 'Archaeology' magazine, the Virtual Library for Archaeology, the Ancient World Web, the University of Michigan's Classics and Mediterranean Archaeology home page, and ABZU.

Armageddon, Megiddo, and the end of the world
Article Abstract:
Scholars are attempting to locate the geological location of Armageddon, a term translated by most scholars to mean the Mound of Megiddo. Over time, the term Armageddon came to denote only a biblical concept, obscuring its origins until a recent archeological expedition rediscovered the historic site that may have inspired the biblical reference, at Tel Magiddo.
