Legacy of medieval Serbia: masterpieces of art and architecture in the wake of war
Article Abstract:
Medieval Serbia, including Kosovo, produced many outstanding churches and monasteries, of which the Church of the Assumption in the monastery of Gratchanitsa, built in 1321 under the Nemanja dynasty, is considered the most graceful. The dynasty constructed churches near Kurshumlija, Ras, and Studenitsa, as well as the monumental mausoleum church at Detchani. The Church of the Holy Apostles, built at Pech in 1250, was the center of the Serbian Church.
