Mound safari: taking a prehistoric roadtrip through the Bayou State
Article Abstract:
There are nearly 700 Native American mound sites in Louisiana and driving on the Ancient Mounds Trail is an opportunity for travelers to see 41 of these mounds. Poverty Point is the largest mound in the trail where Native Americans once built houses on the ridges.
