Issues discussed concern production of 'terfo,' a type of cloth woven by the indigenous Sobei community in Irian Jaya, Indonesia. Topics addressed include the making and dyeing of the thread, the cloth's social, economic and religious functions, the history of the Sobei, and the cloth's distinction as representative of the types made by early Austronesians.
