America revisited
Article Abstract:
Interior designer Edward Weller drew inspiration from the elegant town of Litchfield, CT, in developing his seating line collection. Weller has been known for developing the Sharon chair, a lounge seat with widened seating. The Litchfield Collection includes pull-up armchairs, lounge pieces and wing-back chairs. Most of the chairs have generous inner dimensions for typical American males but these are softened using goose down and feather backs while the seats are made of foam core wrapped with feathers.

A twist on convention
Article Abstract:
Architect Frank Gehry perfected the bentwood technique of 19th-century furniture designer Michael Thonet and extends the design using new technologies to manipulate the material. Gehry's lightweight chairs are made of seven layers of maple strips. The KnollStudio collection is made by laminating the maple strips and bending them to make frameless chairs which appear fargile but are actually very durable.
