Audubon accolade
Article Abstract:
National Audubon Society's headquarters at Manhattan, designed by Kristen Childs and Randolph Croxton has won acclaim because of its design and constructed aimed at conserving maximum energy and creating fresh unpolluted environment. An old building was renovated to construct the new building made of brick, terracotta, and cast iron. Most of the materials used for the building floor tiles, wallboard and bathroom counter tops are made from recycled products. The arrangement of light, color schemes of walls, use of infrared sensors and space planning reduces the need for artificial light. A gas-fired temperature system is used to reduce pollution and a HVAC system is installed to filter air six times every hour. Environmental standards were considered while choosing wood materials.

Greening up your building
Article Abstract:
Home Box Office (HBO) contracted Croxton Collaborative to design an environmental master plan that would upgrade the environmental performance of HBO's Manhattan office. Croxton conducted an evaluation of HBO's energy requirements and inspected the office's mechanical systems and exterior shell to establish whether alterations are needed. Results showed that only two rooms had high concentrations of unclen air, prompting HBO to install charcoal filters in those areas. HBO's focus on environmental quality will eventually benefit them financially and ensure employee health and production.
