Discrimination by design
Article Abstract:
The spatial design of buildings and entire communitiesindicate the influences of gender, race and class relations in a society. Hence, architectural design is a reflection of prevailing social, political andeconomic values and is often symbolic of the place that each individual holds in society. Furthermore, interior design has also been adopted to account for gender-based biological differences. The adaptability of design indicates a great potential for creating work environments that break the stereotypical roles of males and females.
