Every city needs one

Article Abstract:

The design and construction of a new police Academy in the South Bronx, NY, will be handled by a joint venture team of the Ellerbe Becket and Michael Fieldman & Partners. The $230 million project will consist of a 456,000 sq ft glass and steel building. Likewise, design firm CUH2A has been contracted by Procter & Gamble Co for the design of a health care research center in Warren County, OH. On the other hand, the Jakarta Stock Exchange building will be designed by Brennan Beer Gorman/Architects in collaboration with three locally-based contractors.

Handmade for contract

Article Abstract:

Interior design firm Lane Pettigrew Karp has developed a method for producing handmade floor tiles. Astratiles are intricately-designed, flexible, durable and easy to maintain. The designers have already used the product in restoration work of the Sans Souci Hotel in Jamaica as well as other projects in the Caribbean. The tiles are madeusing a copper form which acts like a cookie cutter. The tiles are molded in a steel-tile mold, processed in a hydraulic press and cured for 21 days.

Article Abstract:

Butler Rogers Baskett has designed a showroom for Meridian, a manufacturer of metal filing and storage systems. The designer used the products to create the architectural design, using storage systems to punctuate floor space for example. A work wall is included, which has a variety of different lights which the user can mix to his preference using dimmer switches.
