Shepard Hall Restoration
Article Abstract:
Shepard Hall is a state-of-the art building in the City University of New York campus that was designed by architectural firm William A. Hall Partnership. It is divided into the music, communications, film and video departments. It has a capacity for 100 people and has a two-story recital hall that features extensive ornate woodwork common in Gothic architecture. Glass-bowl chandeliers and pendant lights hang from its ceilings, while slatted entablatures provide air circulation over the rooms.

Atlanta, GA-based Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback and Assocs. designed the new $85-million, 858,000-sq.-ft. Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, NC. Working under the guidance of a review committee composed of prominent local citizens, the company came up with a design suited to the city's image as a progressive business center. Natural light was emphasized in the center's 60,000 square feet of public areas.
