Reduced circumstances

Article Abstract:

The recession in Europe was reflected in the furniture designs exhibited at the biennial trade show in Cologne, Orgatec. Furniture on display was basic and simple. Orgatec is important to the furniture industry and companies spend a long time preparing for the show. Britain is noticeably under-represented as it does not have a furniture company of the same scale as the larger continental European ones. The reasons are unwillingness to export, lack of investment and low management morale.
