The redesign of the Herald & News
Article Abstract:
The North Jersey Herald and News publication was redesigned by Alan Jacobson of Publication Design Group. Jacobson based his design on the layout and typefaces used in the Elizabeth Daily Journal that was published in the 1930s. The newspaper uses Helvetica Bold, Times New Roman, Century and News Gothic and a minimal use of color. The publishers also determined that the paper should have shorter stories and more serious graphic formats.

Technicians for dummies
Article Abstract:
The newspaper industry has been forced by changes in technology to buy more computers, change their systems while others are still getting used to the old system and forgetting the year 2000 date transition problem. If publishers and editors allow this, they will never master any computer system because phasing-in period takes a long time. Computer changeover causes confusion and delay of work.
