Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback's new headquarters for Prince Street Technologies fosters a sense of community
Article Abstract:
Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback and Associates won the design competition for Prince Street Technologies's new headquarters in Cartersville, GA, and took a year to build it. The glass and brick structure fosters a close kinship among the employees and its landscape is earth-friendly: neither the wildflowers nor the grass need fertilizers. The glass-windows also utilize and maximize natural light the year round. Its interior layout is integrated visually and functionally to concretize the corporate belief that all employees, from the showroom to the manufacturing section, are part of the team.

A corporate yarn
Article Abstract:
Tapestry designer Helena Henmarck produces yarn designs which have a three-dimensional quality when viewed from afar. Henmarck has been responsible for developing corporate tapestries that achieve special effects through the application of trompe l'oiel techniques. The tapestry appears to have an abstract quality when examined very closely, but the woven designs appear life-like when appreciated from ten feet away.

Discoveries
Article Abstract:
Carnegie Fabrics with the American Craft Council sponsored the American Handweavers Competition to encourage textile designers and weavers and possibly use their designs for commercial production. The third competition held in 1992 honored 25 winners from 400 entries. The artistic fabrics were mostly too flimsy and impractical for commercial production but they were appropriate for the specialty market.
