International Finance Corporation headquarters

Article Abstract:

Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) designed the Michael Graves building which is the site of the International Finance Corporation headquarters in Washington, DC. The design utilized a limestone and granite structure which is typical of the architecture of historic Washington. The IFC headquarters is equipped with a 300-seat auditorium, fitness and training centers. SOM opted for an open-plan design and also reduced the number of floors from 12 to 11 to accommodate nine-foot ceilings.

Article Abstract:

Smith Dalia Architects and TVS Interiors joined efforts in making the Adidas House in Atlanta, GA, look more visitor-friendly than a typical retail store. The designers eliminated the numerous wall partitions and designed a spacious 45,000-square-foot floor that houses teal sofas, Adidas-logo headboards, and homely furnitures. Olympic memorabilia also add to aesthetic quality of the design.
