north park studio, Architects refits a contemporary chapel to meet changing needs
Article Abstract:
The Magnificat Chapel was built by the Sisters of the Holy Humility of Mary in 1964 along the traditional lines of worship, which rendered it liturgically obsolete under the Vatican II. In 1995, the Sisters decided to renovate the chapel, hiring Richard D. Podulka, principal of north parks studio, Architects. He removed the wall between the vestibule and the main chapel, the vestibule's low ceiling and dark slate floor, the raised altar and the fixed pews. His replacements created a lighter, more welcoming space.

That old branding magic
Article Abstract:
Industries nationwide are venturing into branding in hopes of boosting their appeal and profit margins. It used to be that branding was undertaken only by companies seeking to promote their products by inculcating a distinct image in their customers' minds. Walt Disney Co and Viacom Inc are among the companies which have realized the value of branding or improving their images by redesigning their buildings and reinforcing company values.
