Alla Osipenko
Article Abstract:
Alla Osipenko, a former prima ballerina with the Kirov Ballet Company, found her career compromised by Soviet politics. With the defection of Rudolf Nureyev and Osipenko's outspoken monarchism, the Kirov began limiting the number of her performances and barred her from international tours. She then turned to acting in experimental films and lecturing and teaching ballet in Europe.

Ballet culture and the individual talent
Article Abstract:
Ballet near the end of the 20th century is severely financially challenged, and this limits its appeal as a profession.
