Chris Marker's reality bytes
Article Abstract:
Filmmaker and photographer Chris Marker treats film and photography similarly in his work because they are processed similarly in human memory and imagination. Many of his films are filled with still images, just as there is an element of motion in his photos. Essays and scripts which accompany his works are often juxtaposed with images in what appears to be a disorderly fashion. Marker believes the text will be appropriately constructed through the viewer's subconscious and thus provide meaning to each individual.

Christenberry's southern discomfort
Article Abstract:
The thought-provoking and controversial exhibit of William Christenberry's photography and art may help audiences reevaluate the artist and reject current labels of him as folksy or regional. Christenberry's work focuses on his home state of Alabama and the beauty and darkness of southern life and history. The 'Klan Room' part of the exhibit features various artworks and memorabilia of the Klu Klux Klan in Alabama and has sparked controversy among museum curators and audiences.
