Image and identity in war
Article Abstract:
The photographic and television images used in the media's reporting of the Persian Gulf War was aimed at justifying the war to the public. This is in the tradition of war reporting that tries make war seem acceptable. The media in effect became part of the US military's public relations campaign. A sanitized image of the war was presented that emphasized high-tech weaponry rather than the horrors of war.
